Old School Hall
| Old School Hall – News and update from your Village Hall.
The Christmas lunch due to be held on the 4th of December, which has proved to be a very popular social event in previous years, was sadly postponed due to the poor weather conditions. The re-scheduled date for this old favourite is Saturday 22nd January 2011. The popular Social and Quiz evening will be a “Christmas Special” on the 18th December, our usual approach to food on this occasion will be replaced with a free buffet….. a new venture for the hall! We will be opening on New Year’s Eve at 8.30pm. A warm welcome and a very pleasant evening will be spent in the company of friends and neighbours within walking distance of your own front door. Greet 2011 with a drink from the bar or tea/coffee if you prefer. A light buffet will be provided; please come and join us and ease yourselves very pleasantly into the New Year (if you think you might join us please let us know how many will be in your party, this will help with catering)…..7th January 2011 will see the start of our latest project “Carpet Bowls” which will have arrived in Little Ellingham. There are two sessions planned one starting at 2.00pm; this session is hoped to appeal to those who don’t like to go out in the evening and the second session will be starting at 7.30pm. This day is intended as a taster so do come along to Old School Hall and have a go, there is no age limit. Carpet Bowls has proved to be very popular in small village halls, as it is suitable for all ages, with a lively competitive league throughout Norfolk.

The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on
0906 6611911 (a premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on:

Village sign
The Council have been looking at different designs and discussing different options for obtaining funding and it is hoped that we will be able to progress this further in the new year.
Footpaths
The Council has received complaints regarding horse-riders using the public footpaths. The Council would like to ask horse-riders to please keep to the bridleways and other permissible paths. Thank you.
Drainage
Those households who have shown an interest, in being connected to a new mains drain’s sewage system within the parish of Little Ellingham, will have received a letter and questionnaire from Anglian Water’s engineering department recently. Please do not delay in completing and returning the questionnaire as the more returns Anglian Water receive the greater chance we have of moving forward to the next stage in the parish councils attempt to improve the drainage and flooding problems experienced in this parish.
Highways
The Highways department will be inspecting our parish over the next couple of weeks with a view to the Highway & Community Rangers coming in to carry out work late December to early January. Various problems have been highlighted such as the potholes in the roads and damaged road signs.
